I wanted to let you know how things are coming along with the "play by post" game I am designing for your businesses, and get your feedback on the premise.
So far I have figured out how to work in your businesses, lairs, employees, herd, and resources. If you can think of anything else I might be able to work in, please let me know. I started out with my focus being on business management, so I took in to consideration operating costs, employees, and business expansion. Creating products takes "labor hours" which are created by your employees at a rate of 40 per week. However, each employee has a monthly wage that needs to be paid, with more skilled employees requiring more pay. Employees can be upgraded and specialized by by paying for them to get trained. Facilities can also be upgraded with better production equipment, more efficient processes, and more room to facilitate more workers and machinery.
Your lair will be run in a similar manner, with available upgrades including things like training rooms, libraries, and more bedrooms for your waitstaff and herd. You have the option to purchase or build additional businesses and lairs, and are encouraged to do so. Various types of insurance will also be available for your holdings from the weekly events that will take place on your properties.
So, what do you think? Does this sound like it will be fun? Will it add to our chronicle, or just be a burden for everyone between sessions?

Sounds like a good plan. I'll try to work that in. I suppose I will need to take in to consideration that some business produce goods, while others produce services. I hadn't thought about that initially.

Sounds good to me. And multiple lairs would be prudent.

I have started posting rules for Ventrue Ventures on the rules board. There is a separate sub-board for the minigame. You can start planning out your lairs and businesses, but please don't start posting them yet. I will let you know when to start playing. If you have any qustions about the game, please post them on this thread.

I've changed my mind about how I run "lairs". You will now be able to add them on to any other building you have, and there will be no lair type building. This basically does away with the primary/secondary types for buildings, thereby simplifying things. I'll be updating the related documents as I continue to work on setting up the game.

Alright, so here's the latest news. I realized that with this being a diceless PbP, there is no random factor and the only thing that would determine how much you profit would be how much money you pump back in to your businesses. What I've decided to do to remedy this is to release a weekly census for Vancouver which will include the total population, and how many people are in each of five income levels. The five levels will correspond to each level of the "Resources" background. The amount of people who qualify for each level will depend on the players, and how much they pay their employees. Why this matters is because people can't spend more than they make. You won't find people with level 1 resources renting rooms in 5 star hotels. They simply can't afford it. Therefore, players will need to pay attention to what people require if they want to make the most possible money.

Updated the "census" example to reflect hourly rates, instead of monthly. Less math that way. Your business portfolios will need to include a list of employees with their skill levels and wage in order for me to complete the census.

Hey All, As you may have noticed, I haven't been releasing any updates to the Ventrue Ventures game. The reason is simple; I haven't been working on it. Too many other projects with the game have come up lately, so I will be a while before the side game is up and running. I hope to have it finished before the Island Chapter is completed, but I will likely need your help in doing so. When I have something that I need help with, I will post it here. As for the time being... watch your neck.
