Buddy woke with a start, his legs twitching as he realised he wasn't running. The nighmares had become more frquent and vivid in the nights after his chance meeting with the one known as "Doc". In his sleep, he saw a gigantic spider spinning webs around the island, entangling the homes of wolf and man alike. These were no ordinary webs. They did not constrain the movement of those they engulfed. Instead, the webs seemed to direct the fates of the islanders, leading them in to conflicts with the others of the island. He saw wolves attacking the villages of man by the light of the moon, and man hunting and killing wolves for pleasure. The rivers of the island flowed red with the blood of wolf and man alike.
In his most recent dream, he saw the fate of his new friend as he and his allies searched for the source of the violence on the island. The webs leading the party up island were intertwined with those connected to someone else. Someone strong. Someone violent and angry. In his dream, Buddy tried to chase his friend, to warn him. He could not run fast enough, as if his own webs were holding him back.
The dreams could have meant only one thing; Buddy's only friend was in great danger. It had been two nights since Doc and his companions had left, but their scent still lingered in the air. It shouldn't be too difficult to track them down. Buddy thought to himself. As soon as he had picked up the scent, Buddy ran as fast as he could to find Doc. It was nearly dusk, and he knew Doc would set out again as soon as the sun had set. He had to get to Doc before the others did.
Buddy ran as fast as he could until he felt like his legs could give out on him. Panting, he stopped and sniffed the air. Not much farther now. C'mon.. you can do this. Buddy forces himself in to a sprint, closing the small distance between himself and Doc. His muscles ached and his lungs burned as he continued to push himself to reach his friend. He tore thru the forest, paying no attention to anything that was not his destination. Right now, nothing mattered but saving Doc's life.
Buddy burst into a clearing, and could finally see Doc. However, Doc was not alone. He was surrounded by werewolves, locked in combat with their leader. Doc was not doing well. Buddy felt a fire well up inside himself, the fury was unlike anything he had ever felt before. He rushed toward Doc's attacker, completely ignoring his own safety. As he ran, Buddy felt his muscles bulging and stretching. He started to run on two legs as his body took on a human-like form. The fury within him completely over took buddy, and he lunged at the werewolf who was attacking Doc.
